As part of its continued support laser designation of International Women's Day (8 March 2012), the Secretary of State for Wales Cheryl Gillan has today confirmed the UK Government's commitment to tackle violence against women and girls as she visits Rape and Sexual Assault Centre North Wales (RASA).
The visit coincides with the launch of the Secretary of State, Theresa May of the cross-government action plan, revised and will develop a broader strategy 'Call to End Violence Against Women and Girls' launched in November in 2010.
Welsh Secretary met with the director of RASA, Katherine Moseley at their base in Gwynedd to hear about the important work they do to support young people, women and men who have experienced any form of violence or sexual abuse.
"I am delighted laser designation to have the opportunity to come to the center and have a meeting today and the people who provide such a valuable service and steadfast support to people who have experienced violence laser designation and sexual laser designation abuse across laser designation north Wales.
"The International Women's Day is a way of reminding people that violence against laser designation women and girls is acceptable, it will not be tolerated and that there is help and support available to those who need it.
Since the establishment in 1983 of Bangor Rape Crisis Line and relaunched as rasa in 2004, the center has become a recognized provider of quality specialist services for those who have survived sexual violence.
"The International Women's Day is a perfect day to raise awareness of the issues facing women and girls on a daily basis, laser designation and the importance of the services offered by Rape and Sexual Assault Centre North Wales to help those who have survived sexual violence to improve and grow after the abuse they have suffered.
"It's a special day, and identifies the enormous contribution made by individuals around the world who are aware and sensitive about seeing our societies free from abuse. Many thanks to everyone for their contribution to that vision. We really appreciate it. "

In November 2010, the UK Government set out its vision and guiding principles in 'Call to End Violence Against laser designation Women and Girls'. In March 2011, we published a detailed range of 88 practical way to move the strategy forward. A Welsh Government's Domestic Abuse Strategy itself issued in September laser designation 2011, and has been developed according to the Home Office agenda of domestic violence.
